The Fall Fat Blast has started! This is our biggest weight-loss challenge that is lead by 5 trainers. Being as such, we will apologize for the heavy breathing, leaving a trail of sweat from machine to machine, barking orders and commands from across the room, and laughing too loud. We don’t mean or intend to hog any equipment so if you want to use it just please ask and we will clean it up and hand it to you. This controlled chaos is such a fun time for all of us and it has to be one of the best spectator sports around. If you’re not participating then enjoy the show. If you are then PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN!
Prenatal Yoga and Prenatal Fitness classes starting in October
Join Allison for Prenatal yoga and In Shape Prenatal Fitness.
Prenatal yoga is both energizing and gentle. Classes are designed to help pregnant women connect with their developing baby, to increase comfort and fluidity in their rapidly changing body, and to alleviate common discomforts of pregnancy. Combine the elements of meditation, visualization, breath practice, gentle stretch to strengthen the body and mind in preparation for labor and birth.
In Shape Prenatal Fitness This progressive exercise class includes a gentle warm-up, low impact aerobics, range of motion, strengthening and cool down activities.
NOTE** Both Classes are open to pregnant women with a doctor’s written approval.

“Pounds for Cash” has a Winner
Julie B. ran away with the “Pounds for Cash” contest during the final week and took home $233.50 in the process. She posted the highest weight & inches lost percentages on her way to winning by 3.4 points ahead of the runner up. Despite only the winner getting the prize money everyone else performed really, really well and should feel like they have had a successful 7 weeks of exercise & weight loss.

An apple a day can keep pounds away, a study from Penn State University at State College reports. People who ate the fruit before a meal consumed 15 percent fewer calories overall than those who didn’t munch on a Macintosh. Apple eaters spend more time chewing, so they feel full on fewer calories.

One day in late August of 2009 I had weighed myself and I couldn’t believe I was 297 pounds, the heaviest I have ever been in my life! Something just clicked in my mind and I knew I had to do something not only to change my life, but save my life! September 2009 I started my journey at Total Fitness. I met the staff and they were very supportive in my weight loss goals. I started working out twice a day every day (but having four kids its hard to keep up that schedule) so I come in the mornings and sometimes in the evenings when I am able to. Ultimate Fitness Quest
How many pushups can you do in 3 minutes? How far can you run in 20 minutes? How sore will your abs be after 550 crunches? These questions have been answered by the few and brave who are challenging themselves to trainer, Dustin Brown ’s, madness. The next question is how much more can they do in 6 weeks time? Rest assured they can do more of these and several other hard and demanding fitness challenges. Stay tuned for their progress thru their personal fitness quests.

In just 2 weeks time, 28 members are clamoring for the top spot, which takes home the pot. No one has pulled away yet and no one is too far away from the top to be out of the winning it all. To date the pot is at $147.75 and after 2 weeks a total of 123 lbs.! There is 5 more weeks for everyone to try to establish who is going to be the frontrunners for the grand prize.
Yoga with Christine Cutty
Starting Sept 7, join Christine on Tuesday evening from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. for yoga class. She will be teaching two popular forms of yoga, Hatha & Vinyasa, that are combined together for one great class. With a focus on breathing and movement to teach you poise, balance & strength, this class will leave you relaxed and balanced. Beginners to advanced welcome! Christine also teaches Pilates on Monday and Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
